To date, no robotic legs walk with the elegance of human gait. No robotic hand matches the dexterity of a human hand. No sensor suite grants a humanoid the awareness of its environment that humans naturally possess.
We are researching and developing the fundamental technologies to enable humanoids to reach human-level performance.
Must-Haves:
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals (e.g., mathematics, materials science, mechanical/electrical principles).
- Experience in the design and development of actuation systems including motors, drivetrains, robotic joints, and structural elements.
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Full-stack R&D capabilities, including:
- Interpreting academic research and patents.
- Modeling systems using simulation or software tools.
- Prototyping with machining, rapid fabrication, and embedded systems.
- Designing and running experiments with structured analysis of results.
- Ability to evaluate the practicality and feasibility of novel ideas, especially when distinguishing between promising innovation and theoretical concepts.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Demonstrated passion for building, tinkering, or technical exploration—professionally or personally.
- Portfolio of projects you personally designed and/or built. (Please feel free to include links to simple personal projects or technical portfolios. Confidential or proprietary work is not required or expected).
- Experience in building systems from scratch—beyond incremental improvements.
- Interest in human biomechanics or the nervous system and how they relate to robotic design.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present bold concepts and incorporate feedback effectively.
- Appreciation for historic figures in science, engineering, or invention
- Ph.D. in a relevant technical field.
