Job Title: Direct Support Professional (PRN)
Position Overview
3M’s Services LLC is seeking compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. PRN staff provide coverage on an as-needed basis to support service delivery and ensure continuity of care for individuals receiving services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Direct Care: Assist individuals with activities of daily living including meal preparation, personal hygiene, grooming, mobility assistance, and medication administration as permitted by training and company policy. Support individuals in maintaining independence while ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Behavioral Support & De-escalation: Implement positive behavior support strategies and follow approved behavior plans when applicable. Utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques to redirect challenging behaviors while maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
- Promote Community Engagement: Support individuals in participating in social, recreational, and community activities that enhance independence, life skills, and overall quality of life.
- Follow Individualized Service Plans: Work collaboratively with Qualified Professionals (QPs), supervisors, and clinical staff to implement individualized service plans and ensure services are delivered according to established goals and outcomes.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete accurate and timely documentation of services provided, individual progress, and any incidents or concerns in accordance with company policies and NCDHHS requirements.
- Communication & Team Collaboration: Maintain open communication with supervisors, Qualified Professionals, families, and other members of the care team regarding any changes in an individual’s behavior, health, or service needs.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals served by following agency policies, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and adhering to HIPAA confidentiality standards and state regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and crisis prevention strategies preferred
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and active insurance required
- Ability to assist with lifting, transfers, and other physically demanding tasks when necessary
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable approach to providing care
