The Role: 
Join 3R Sustainability as a Senior Consultant and play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge sustainability services across our international client base. Through our Consulting and Assurance divisions, you'll help businesses enhance their sustainability performance. Our consulting service provides tailored solutions for sustainability program development and improvement. Our Assurance division, through SAS, validates sustainability data and reporting, boosting trust and performance on platforms like EcoVadis and CDP. 
 
This role has a strong emphasis on business development and client engagement. You will meet with sustainability teams and client leadership (and leadership of potential clients) to drive growth and deliver impactful solutions. Additionally, you may oversee internal team members, contractors, and/or partnerships (e.g., accounting firms) to provide sustainability services, ensuring seamless delivery and high-quality outcomes.  As an extension of our predominantly US-based workforce, you will collaborate with multinational organizations with a focus on building and nurturing relationships in the EU.  

We are open to both permanent employment and contractor arrangements, depending on the candidate's preferences and circumstances. 

Location: Remote in Amsterdam, Netherlands (with travel across Europe)

Key Responsibilities: 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry experts, NGOs, and other stakeholders across Europe. 
• Collaborate with clients to identify and prioritize sustainability issues, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements. 
• Support clients in improving their sustainability management system and increase scores on platforms like EcoVadis and CDP. 
• Conduct research and analysis on emerging sustainability trends, including the impact of EU regulations and best practices in sustainable business operations. 
• Support internal team members, contractors, and/or external partnerships (e.g., accounting firms) to ensure the successful delivery of services. 
• Drive business development by meeting with client sustainability teams and leadership to identify opportunities and expand services. 
• Contribute to thought leadership and marketing initiatives to position 3R Sustainability as a leader in the sustainability space. 
• Represent 3R Sustainability at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities. 
• Drive the growth and innovation of sustainability services in the European market. 
• Act as the primary liaison between clients and the internal 3R team to ensure clear communication and effective project execution. 
• Conduct materiality and gap assessments to sustainability frameworks and regulations. 
• Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand organizational and stakeholder priorities. 
• Develop sustainability programs to address areas of greatest impact and opportunity. 
• Create dynamic and innovative analytics-driven deliverables, including dashboards, spreadsheets, presentations, and reports. 
• Collaborate and work across clients’ organizations to drive implementation and results. 
• Support other senior colleagues in business development, including proposal writing, and in the development of work plans, schedules, and budgets for the delivery of client projects. 
• Deliver tasks on time and within budget and assist project managers to ensure that projects perform against targets and deadlines. 
• Work on several differing projects simultaneously. 
• Perform other related duties as required. 

Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field plus 5+ years of experience in sustainability consulting, assurance, or a related field. (If Bachelor’s degree, would require 8-10+ years of experience.) 
• Strong understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks, regulations, and standards (e.g., ESRS, IFRS, GRI, SASB, CDP, EcoVadis, GRESB) and assurance processes. 
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and sustainability strategy development. 
• Experience engaging with teams, contractors, or partnerships to deliver assurance services is a plus. 
• Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
• Fluency in English and at least one other European language (preference German, Dutch, and French) 
• Proficiency in carbon footprint analysis, circular economy strategies, and sustainability data validation.

• Ability to effectively manage other consultants and provide valuable feedback.
