Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This
role will own key accounting functions and work closely with our Accounting Clerk to ensure
accurate financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate thrives in a small company
environment where they can make a direct impact and take ownership of critical processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Execute month-end close procedures and prepare supporting schedules
- Compile and review financial statements
- Manage accruals, pre-paids, and fixed asset depreciation
- Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation
- Conduct cash reconciliation and general ledger supervision
- Review expense reports for accuracy and compliance
Payroll & Compliance
- Own the complete payroll process including timesheets, pay runs, and related journal entries
- Support HR onboarding process
- Manage sales, property, and franchise tax filings
- Provide support to external tax and audit advisors
- Maintain and update internal policies and controls
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Collaborate with Accounting Clerk to process, maintain, and report on AP/AR activities
- Review Accounting Clerk's work for accuracy and completeness
Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Enhance existing accounting processes and systems
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed
- Support various projects and initiatives across the organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment
- Thorough understanding of US GAAP fundamentals
- Proven experience preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, and supporting month-end close procedures
- Working knowledge of accruals, pre-paids, and fixed asset depreciation
- Understanding of the full accounting cycle in a corporate environment
- Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas
- Comfort working with large data sets
- Understanding of internal controls and their practical application
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Medical device or regulated industry experience
- CPA candidate or CPA certification
