About Us
At 4AG Robotics, we build robots that harvest mushrooms-and we’re growing fast. Our team thrives at the intersection of agriculture and automation, combining hands-on grit with cutting-edge technology. If you’re energized by solving real-world problems, owning your work, and using AI to do things better and faster, this is your kind of place.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Product Quality and Reliability Lead (PQR Lead) to ensure our robots consistently deliver the performance, yield, and reliability our customers depend on. This role exists because our technology is scaling rapidly in real-world farms, and the stakes are high—our customers measure success by quality and output, and we need someone who makes sure our robots hit that mark every day.
This is a unique opportunity to own the system-level view of robot quality: gathering data, running structured investigations, leading root cause analyses, and ensuring corrective actions stick. You’ll be the bridge between engineering, service, and operations—filling the critical gap that ensures customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Based in Salmon Arm, BC, this role involves significant travel to customer sites to gather real-world data, validate fixes, and build direct understanding of how our robots perform in the field. It’s hands-on, high-impact work, perfect for someone who thrives in test engineering, loves solving tough problems, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves.
What You’ll Do
- Lead product quality and reliability efforts from field data gathering through corrective action and closure.
- Rapidly investigate spikes in customer-reported issues (e.g., mushroom knock-overs), pulling service logs, operator feedback, and on-board robot data.
- Design and execute structured containment, validation, and corrective action plans (e.g., 8D, fishbone diagrams, FMEAs).
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary investigation teams (Mechanical, Controls, Software/AI, Service/Ops) to ensure every potential cause is explored.
- Run controlled lab and field tests to replicate issues and validate fixes.
- Document and track investigations in PLM/Jira with linked corrective actions and engineering change orders.
- Update design and reliability documentation (DFMEAs, SOPs, reliability plans) to lock learnings into future builds.
- Act as the customer’s voice inside the company, ensuring quality and reliability targets align with customer expectations.
- Travel extensively to customer farms and sites for data gathering, testing, and validation.
What Success Looks Like
- First 3 months: You’re fully embedded in our investigation process, leading small-scale quality issues through containment and corrective action, and building strong relationships with engineering and service teams.
- 6 months: You’re independently running multi-disciplinary investigations, closing the loop from root cause to corrective action, and reducing repeat issues. You’ve established clear data-driven metrics for robot quality and yield.
- 12 months: You’re recognized as the go-to leader for product reliability, driving improvements across design, testing, and operations that lead to measurable increases in customer satisfaction and yield performance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering—or equivalent hands-on experience in test engineering, product reliability, or field engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in product quality, reliability engineering, or test engineering (robotics, automation, or machinery strongly preferred).
- Hands-on experience designing and executing test plans, gathering performance data, and running structured root cause analyses.
- Strong knowledge of quality and reliability tools (e.g., 8D, DFMEA, Fishbone diagrams, MTBF analysis, reliability testing).
- Comfortable with fieldwork: interviewing operators, troubleshooting machinery, and running tests in variable conditions.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills—you can align mechanical, controls, software, and operations teams around a shared problem.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer sites while maintaining Salmon Arm as home base.
Why This Role Matters
Without a PQR Lead, quality issues risk bouncing between teams without a single point of ownership. This role ensures investigations are fast, structured, and thorough—leading to solutions that improve robot performance, customer satisfaction, and the reliability of our entire fleet. By closing the loop between data, design, and operations, you’ll help 4AG Robotics scale with confidence.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses
- Access to extended health, dental, and vision care, plus an annual healthcare spending account
- Professional development opportunities
- Flexible work hours—we value results over timesheets
- Collaborative, fun, and innovative work environment
