About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience in the design, analysis, and documentation of pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII. The ideal candidate will also have experience with heat exchanger design and a strong interest in or familiarity with ASME Section III nuclear pressure boundary components.

What you'll do

  • Design and analyze pressure vessels and heat exchangers in compliance with ASME BPVC Section VIII.
  • Prepare detailed design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Review and verify supplier calculations and fabrication drawings for pressure-retaining equipment.
  • Interface with multidisciplinary teams including thermal, structural, and nuclear engineers.
  • Support procurement, fabrication, inspection, and testing of pressure vessels.
  • Maintain detailed documentation in accordance with quality assurance and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to design efforts involving ASME Section III when applicable.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in pressure vessel design per ASME BPVC Section VIII.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as Compress, DesignCalcs, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of materials, welding, and fabrication processes related to pressure vessels.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.

Preferred

  • Experience designing or analyzing heat exchangers (shell-and-tube, PCHEs, etc.).
  • Familiarity or hands-on experience with ASME BPVC Section III, particularly Class 1, 2, 3, A, or B components.
  • Experience working under a nuclear quality assurance program (e.g., ASME NQA-1).
  • PE license or ability to obtain licensure is a plus.
