Position Overview

The Assistant Corporate Controller will oversee several accounting functions across multiple domestic geographical sites, ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to GAAP standards, key customer/vendor reconciliation and state, local and sales tax compliance in applicable jurisdictions. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping the financial foundation of the company during a period of rapid growth, ensuring scalability and long-term success.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundational accounting background with understanding of operational accounting processes, ERP and system integration, and team development. Working closely with senior leadership, the Assistant Corporate Controller will help drive financial strategy, deliver actionable insights, and cultivate a high-performing accounting team of 8+ members.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Assist with the consolidated month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency among multiple subsidiaries.
  • Enhance the Company’s monthly account reconciliation process, driving accuracy and optimization.
  • Co-lead the annual audit process, collaborating with external auditors to ensure timely and clean results. Manage the PBC list with the auditors to ensure timely delivery of key requests.
  • Support in various functions associated with inventory management and accounting, specifically, inventory adjustments, cycle counts and annual counts.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP with understanding of adjusted EBITDA through addbacks and pro-forma roll-ups.

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Coordinate with various departments (e.g., Sales, Purchasing, etc.) to reconcile and rectify key customer and vendor accounts balances, where applicable.
  • Oversee post-acquisition financial integration into NetSuite for newly acquired entities, ensuring alignment of accounting policies, systems, and processes.
  • Partner with the Controller and CFO to monitor and report on post-acquisition performance metrics

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist with various sales tax filings in applicable jurisdictions
  • Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, optimize financial performance, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline operations and enhance controls as the company scales.

Strategic Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller, CFO, and executive team to develop financial strategies that align with growth objectives.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with detailed variance analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead with ad-hoc reports and projects, when applicable

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor several of the accounting teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Provide clear priorities, deliverables, and proactive communication to drive team success.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee the optimization of ERP systems (NetSuite experience strongly preferred).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required.
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, with mix of public accounting and/or private industry, and at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Background with various state, local and sales tax filings
  • Experience managing audits and working collaboratively with external auditors.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
  • Experience in private equity-backed environments and managing offshore teams is also a strong plus.

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 155,000 USD per year (Mokena)
