About Abby Health
Abby Health is Australia’s busiest online clinic, built for the future of primary care.
More than a third of Australians no longer have a regular GP. Appointments are expensive, wait times are growing, and too often the support ends the moment the consultation does. We built Abby to fix that. Abby is an online-first clinic giving every Australian access to a dedicated clinical team - powered by AI, backed by real doctors, and built around a single promise: continuous, personalised care that's there whenever you need it. Over 250,000 Australians already use Abby for everything from prescriptions and referrals to mental health and chronic care. No waiting rooms. No repeating yourself. Just healthcare that actually fits your life.
We build everything around three values: smart systems that make every step seamless, beautiful design that makes it all feel easy, and caring people who actually listen. This role sits right at the heart of the beautiful.
Based in Sydney: Hybrid; Sydney office and home office
Portfolio submission: Please include a link to websites, apps, or interactive experiences you've built. We want to see your eye for detail — animations, polish, design fidelity.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Frontend Developer who lives at the intersection of design and engineering. Your superpower is taking a beautiful Figma design and shipping it as something that looks and feels exactly right - pixel-perfect, smooth, and alive.
You'll work hand-in-hand with our designer, translating their vision into polished interfaces using CSS frameworks and animation tooling. Our existing frontend architecture and infrastructure is in great hands - your focus is on what users actually see and experience.
This isn't a role for someone who thinks CSS is an afterthought. It's for someone who gets genuinely excited about nailing a hover state.
What You'll Do
- Translate high-fidelity Figma designs into polished, production-ready UI with precision
- Build fluid animations and micro-interactions that make the product feel delightful
- Work within our existing frontend architecture to implement beautiful, consistent interfaces
- Collaborate daily with our designer - push back, suggest improvements, and elevate the work together
- Own the visual quality of our product across patient-facing and clinician-facing surfaces
- Ensure UI is responsive, accessible, and consistent across browsers and devices
- Work closely with our Senior Full Stack Engineer on integration points — you don't need to own the backend, but you'll understand how it fits together
Our Tech stack
- Frontend: ReactJS + TypeScript
- Styling: Tailwind CSS, styled-components
- Animations: Framer Motion, CSS animations
- Backend: Node.js + TypeScript (good to understand, not your primary focus)
- Database: PostgreSQL
- Infrastructure: AWS (owned by the team - you'll consume it, not configure it)
- Design handoff: Figma
What we're looking for
- 3–5 years of frontend experience with a strong focus on UI craft and design implementation
- Deep CSS skills - you can build complex layouts, smooth animations, and pixel-perfect components without reaching for a workaround
- Proficiency with Tailwind CSS or similar utility-first frameworks
- Experience with Framer Motion, GSAP, or CSS animations in production
- Strong React and TypeScript fundamentals
- A genuine eye for design - you notice the details and care about getting them right
- Experience working closely with designers directly from Figma
- Based in Sydney and happy to be in the office at least 4 days per week
- A portfolio that shows your frontend craft
It would be great if you have:
- Experience in a startup or fast-moving product team
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Interest in healthtech or building tools with real-world impact
Why join Abby?
- Work directly with our designer to shape how millions of Australians experience healthcare
- Join a lean team where your work ships fast and matters immediately
- No red tape - just high standards, genuine ownership, and room to do your best work
- Collaborate with a senior engineering team who will have your back on the hard stuff
