The Role
As a School Social Worker, you will serve as a critical link between home, school, and community, providing direct support and interventions to help Graduation Candidates (GCs) overcome social, emotional, and attendance-related barriers. You’ll work closely with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure each learner has access to the resources and advocacy they need to thrive academically and personally.


Key Responsibilities

Enrollment & Engagement

  • Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies to support successful enrollment and ongoing engagement
  • Conduct home visits as needed to assess family circumstances and identify areas of need
  • Participate in outreach efforts for hard-to-reach or disengaged students


Retention & Student Support

  • Advocate for GCs by ensuring their rights are upheld and needs are addressed holistically
  • Participate in Child Study Teams to support students with academic, social, emotional, or attendance challenges
  • Develop intervention plans to address chronic absenteeism and support student re-engagement
  • Provide individual and/or group counseling to students facing barriers to academic success


Collaboration & Compliance

  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners to create coordinated service plans
  • Attend truancy intervention meetings and, if needed, court proceedings to support compliance
  • Refer students and families to community agencies and assist them in accessing resources
  • Complete social developmental assessments for special education referrals


Data & Advocacy

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services in accordance with school policies and regulations
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends and inform best practices
  • Educate school personnel on multicultural values and student needs
  • Represent the academy in community events and cross-agency collaborations
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the academy’s mission


What We’re Looking For
Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education

Licensure: Valid Florida certificate in School Social Work or valid Florida Clinical Social Worker license

Experience: Experience working with diverse populations and in K–12 school settings

Skills: Excellent communication, data analysis, and case management skills

Passion: A commitment to educational equity and student advocacy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in at-risk youth settings or non-traditional school models
  • Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and public records regulations
  • Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies and student support services
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
