Senior Systems Engineer

CLEARANCE: This position requires that the candidate has an active US DOD Secret or above security clearance.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design, development, and integration of sophisticated software systems for weapon systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering principles and specific expertise in software development, defense systems, and cross-functional collaboration.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Lead systems engineering efforts for software development for defense systems.
  • Define and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability from conception to deployment.
  • Interface with government customers to understand requirements and assess impacts to program cost, schedule, and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and integration engineers, to develop innovative solutions that meet safety, security, and performance standards.
  • Oversee system architecture design, risk assessments, and trade studies to optimize software performance and integration.
  • Support software development processes using Agile and DevSecOps processes as part of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure software quality and security.
  • Manage and document configuration control processes and ensure alignment with project timelines.


Required Experience:

  • Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance (or able to obtain one).
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on software development for defense systems.
  • Experience with Agile and DevSecOps software development processes.
  • Experience with DoD cyber and software security processes.
  • Strong understanding of defense systems, and software integration processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts and impacts to senior government personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and develop innovative engineering solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to support travel up to 25% of the time.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to include proficiency in industry standards and tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, and SysML/UML.
  • Experience with project management processes to include managing project cost, schedule and performance
  • Familiarity with aviation and missile systems.


Work Environment & Remote Meeting Expectations: Our work environment operates on a remote/hybrid model, balancing flexibility with the need for in-person collaboration. Employees are expected to work in-office on designated days to foster engagement with the team. Outside of these days, employees may telework with supervisor approval, provided they adhere to communication protocols and effectively fulfill their work responsibilities. Travel may be required to customer and subcontractor sites, as well as other office locations.

The pay range for this role is:

150,000 - 210,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
