Windchill Engineer (SIE)

This role is part of our Systems Innovation Engineering (SIE) division, which specializes in readiness and logistics, autonomous platforms, and sensor technologies. SIE develops resilient, integrated systems that enhance situational awareness, sustain mission readiness, and deliver reliable performance across air, ground, and maritime environments.  


The Windchill Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining Windchill PLM solutions and integrations within an advanced Software and Enterprise Solutions team. This role supports Windchill application development, data migration, and enterprise integrations for U.S. Department of Defense customers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Windchill architecture, application development, and data migration, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate has 5 to 8 years of combined experience in Windchill application development, architecture, and data migration.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customer SMEs and the end-user community.
  • Lead solution architecture, development, and implementation efforts across PTC’s Windchill and ThingWorx platforms.
  • Design and develop custom Windchill solutions, including actions models, workflows, lifecycles, reports, and OIRs.
  • Support and optimize data migration projects using Windchill Bulk Migrator, Load From File Framework, and custom scripts.
  • Integrate Windchill with other enterprise systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow.
  • Analyze and cleanse data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with business requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and system testing.
  • Debug and resolve complex application, customization, or data-related defects and issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for solutions, customizations, and data migration processes.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Windchill and ThingWorx functionalities and evolving business processes.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Windchill developments, industry best practices, and DoD software policies.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance (or able to obtain one)
  • Currently hold PTC certifications for Windchill
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or other Engineering discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with PTC’s Windchill PLM & ThingWorx Navigate software
  • Experience working with and developing on top of Windchill version 12 and ThingWorx version 9
  • Expertise in data migration methodologies, including the use of Windchill Bulk Migrator
  • Strong SQL scripting skills and understanding of Windchill’s database schema
  • Proficiency in Java, JSP, J2EE, XML, JSON, and HTML5 for Windchill development
  • Experience collaborating with the PTC Technical Support & R&D organizations
  • Knowledge of Windchill System & Business Administration, including security configurations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and within a team

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Windchill version 13
  • Experience with AWS cloud services
  • Knowledge of DoD software development policies and requirements
  • Experience in Agile software development methodologies and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience investigating and resolving Windchill performance related issues
  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and shell scripting specifically for Windchill Implementations
  • Familiarity with Configuration Status Accounting and/or Provisioning processes in the US DoD or equivalent military industrial supplier or platform owner
  • Security + Certification

 


Clearance Requirements 

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.  Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).  In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment. The pay range for this role is:

124,200 - 160,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
