Data Solutions Engineer Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Data Solutions Engineer to join our dynamic data team. This role is central to leveraging our rich geospatial datasets to drive sales and marketing efforts, ensure customer success, and pioneer new data products for client consumption. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills in Python and PostgreSQL, a passion for geospatial data, and excellent communication and organizational abilities to bridge the gap between technical teams and client-facing functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Prototyping & Marketing Enablement:
    • Develop compelling collateral (e.g., maps, visualizations, case studies) and reports that showcase the power and utility of our geospatial data in collaboration with the product, design, sales, and marketing teams.
    • Construct data product prototypes and demonstrations tailored to prospective client needs, translating complex data capabilities into clear business value.
    • Support Sales and Marketing teams as data subject matter expert in critical client communications.
  • Customer Success & Data Migration:
    • Serve as a key technical resource and subject matter expert for the customer success team, addressing inquiries regarding data sources, quality, methodologies, and resolving data-related issues.
    • Manage and execute new client data migrations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Engineering Liaison & Prioritization:
    • Act as a crucial interface between client-facing teams and the data engineering team when needed.
    • Triage, prioritize, and support custom data requests and clearly communicate requirements with the data and engineering teams when needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Python: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency, including libraries commonly used in data analysis, manipulation, and geospatial processing (e.g., Pandas, GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio, Streamlit/Dash).
    • PostgreSQL/PostGIS: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in SQL, with specific experience in querying, managing, and analyzing geospatial data within PostgreSQL using PostGIS and/or via Python.
    • GIS: Solid understanding of geospatial data types (vector, raster), projections, and common geospatial processing tools such as GDAL and QGIS  analysis techniques.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience working with diverse and large geospatial datasets in Saas and/or DaaS business environments.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Experience in client-facing or cross-functional roles is essential, with particular emphasis on growing existing accounts, managing new client relationships, and developing internal solutions to support enterprise sales.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
