What We're Looking For:

New Radiance Cosmetic Centers is seeking an experienced Surgical First Assistant to join our plastic surgery team. In this role, you'll work directly alongside our plastic surgeons as a trusted intraoperative partner, helping deliver safe, efficient, and exceptional outcomes for patients undergoing elective cosmetic procedures. You'll be involved across the full surgical arc, from pre-op planning through the OR to recovery, and will play a key role in keeping our surgical suites running at the highest standard of quality and safety.

Responsibilities:

Before surgery:

  • Come into each case prepared; reviewing the schedule, patient charts, and procedure plans so you understand the surgeon's approach and the patient's specific needs.
  • Position patients, prep and drape the surgical field, confirm implants and devices, and make sure every instrument and piece of equipment is sterile, functional, and ready to go.
  • Take an active role in surgical time-outs and pre-op safety checks.

In the OR:

  • Support the surgeon through body contouring, breast procedures, and plastic surgery cases — providing retraction, suctioning, irrigation, and tissue handling to keep the operative field clear and accessible.
  • Assist with hemostasis, dissection, suturing, and incision closure, and help apply dressings as directed.
  • Anticipate what's needed before it's asked for, and that's the standard here: staying a step ahead to keep the case moving smoothly while maintaining sterile technique throughout.
  • Help manage instruments and supplies, gathering what's needed, keeping the field sterile, and handling proper transport and processing of instruments after the case.

After surgery:

  • Assist with dressings, compression garments, and wound care, and complete accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles before the patient leaves the room.
  • Help with the handoff to recovery/PACU and support post-op documentation and case debriefs.

Team and operations:

  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, CRNA, recovery nurse, and scrub tech to keep everything running smoothly, help keep instruments and supplies organized and stocked, and support our broader safety, quality, and compliance efforts.

Requirements:

Licensure & Certifications:

  • SA-C, CSFA, or RNFA certifications
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification

Clinical Competencies:

  • OR experience, ideally in plastic, cosmetic, or ambulatory surgery; experience specifically in an ambulatory cosmetic/plastic surgery setting is a strong plus
  • Solid working knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, hemostasis, and tissue handling
  • Sharp attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the instinct to anticipate what the surgeon needs next
  • Familiarity with the instruments and techniques used in body contouring, breast aesthetics, and facial cosmetic surgery

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and company compliance standards
  • Commitment to patient safety, informed consent, and ethical clinical practice

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform repetitive fine motor movements with hands and fingers
  • Ability to safely handle needles, sharps, and medical supplies
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and lift standard medical aesthetic equipment and inventory

What Sets You Apart:

  • You work well with people and thrive as part of a team
  • You stay calm and focused even when the pace picks up
  • You take patient safety, confidentiality, and quality outcomes seriously
  • You're fluent in perioperative workflow and surgical protocol
