Data Engineer III, Financial Data

This role is hybrid, requiring three days per week onsite in our Needham, MA headquarters.  

The Data Engineer role will be part of Advisor360°’s Customer Support and Operations organization, as a member of our Financial Data Engineering team. This position is responsible for financial data conversions, onboarding of new data sources, onboarding new clients, and general financial data processing support. The ideal candidate is passionate about leveraging modern technology and building scalable and efficient data pipelines, processes and capabilities, and will work collaboratively with members of the Financial Data Engineering team.


The Financial Data Engineering team is responsible for designing and implementing complex data pipeline, analytical, and transformation processes for financial data conversions into our proprietary Portfolio Management/Accounting Platform. The role requires experience with data movement processes, various data platforms and tooling and the ability to write clean, efficient code across data conversion, data feed integration, reconciliation of transactions/positions, and financial attributes.


Here’s What You’ll Do: 

  • Design, create, maintain, and support software and data processes for large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures.
  • Plan, implement, deploy and maintain mid- to large-scale projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms.
  • Collaborate with team members on effective development practices, communicating with tact and professionalism.
  • Document and maintain operational procedures.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements for financial data processing.
  • Work with multiple data platforms and integration techniques.
  • Demonstrating solid and dependable performance in design and implementation with little or no assistance required.
  • Effectively troubleshoot date errors, data processing performance and remediate them.
  • Lead data engineering initiatives and build end-to-end data solutions that are highly available, performant, scalable, stable, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Plan and implement mid-large-scale projects as part of a team that you may lead.
  • Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to help adopt best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
  • Implement new custodial or sponsor data sources, business translation rules, fund/sponsor conversions, and client data requests.
  • Execute Advisor Level Conversions with high quality, clearly communicating status to internal and external stakeholders while supporting junior team members.
  • Execute enterprise conversions with high quality, clearly communicating status to internal and external stakeholders, while supporting junior team members.
  • Analyze conversion process and document potential areas for improvement both technical and non-technical.
  • Provide input to solution architecture for enterprise financial data conversions.

What You Bring to the Table: 

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience; experience providing technical leadership on high impact cross functional technical projects.
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, .NET).
  • Demonstrated excellence in data pipeline tuning, troubleshooting and performance improvement.
  • Demonstrated strength in data modelling, ETL/ELT development, and data warehousing.
  • Demonstrated track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large data sets.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience with or demonstrated understanding of financial trades, corporate actions, products, security master, and pricing.
  • Experience with or demonstrated understanding of financial data conversions and/or leading Portfolio Accounting software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Azure platform.
  • ETL/ELT experience, especially using SSIS, ADF, dbt, Talend.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile/Scrum environment.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $130,000-$144,000.
