This role is open to sit in ANY of our Aegis office locations: Louisville, KY; Memphis, TN; OR Cincinnati, OH.
What you'll do
- Apply engineering theory and principles to problems of industrial layout and design.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications and drawings.
- Research / review customer specifications to understand requirements and ensure compliance.
- Serve as the lead coordinator of mechanical design activities for the project.
- Work with Project Management to develop and manage the engineering design plan and schedule for the project.
- Serve as the liaison between mechanical systems engineering and all internal and external stakeholders of the project, including engineering subcontractors and customers’ representatives.
- Collaborate with project team members including mechanical design engineers, electrical engineers, project managers and customers to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure design compliance with AEGIS and customer standards.
- Research / review available as-built drawings.
- Research / review available architectural drawings.
- Travel to customer facilities to conduct site surveys and document as-built conditions.
- Develop layout drawings and sketches as needed to convey scope and ideas.
- Specify components and materials required as per the design and creating equipment manifests.
- Utilize AutoCAD 2D & 3D software to review and collaborate on material handling system designs.
- Check drawings and provide feedback to the design team.
- Prepare drawing packages and transmittals for customer reviews.
- Perform a material take-off from project drawings and bills-of-materials and generate purchase requisitions.
- Prepare specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, or materials as required.
- Report out on drawing status on a regular cadence, maintaining the project schedule.
- Provide technical support for vendors, field installation personnel and engineering subcontractors as required.
- Attend training to enhance professional and technical knowledge.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered as a substitute for education.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical conveyor / installation design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Revit, Navisworks, Recap and BIM experience a plus
- Proficient in Windows operating system environment with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, Project etc.)
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively both in writing and verbally
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional / multi-disciplined team
- Ability to work within deadlines; focus and perform work accurately
- Must be adaptable to changing priorities
- Willingness to travel, typically 15%
