About the Role

Aeris is seeking a Data Engineer who’s passionate about building and optimizing data systems that make a real business impact. 

In this role, you’ll take ownership of designing and implementing data pipelines for billing metrics and NFR data. You’ll collaborate closely with development teams and customer success to ensure that our data infrastructure supports evolving customer needs and delivers reliable insights. 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering but also wants to shape the architecture of data systems, balancing implementation with strategy. You’ll have the freedom to experiment, optimize performance, and help define best practices for data architecture within a fast-moving environment. 

This role requires weekly on-site presence (hybrid).

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Optimize Pipelines: Build CDC ETL/ELT pipelines using Datastream, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and Cloud Workflow;
• Architect Scalable Data Systems: Develop and maintain data lakes and warehouses (BigQuery, Spanner, CloudSQL, Cloud Storage);
• AI-Driven Engineering: Use Gen-AI (ChatGPT, Vertex AI, LangChain) to automate ETL code, optimize SQL, detect anomalies, and enhance documentation;
• Security & Compliance: Implement RBAC/IAM controls, encryption, and AI-assisted compliance checks for sensitive data;
• CI/CD & Automation: Deploy pipelines with Terraform, Kubernetes, Airflow, and Cloud Composer;
• Monitoring & Observability: Enable end-to-end observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for performance insights;
• API & Integration Design: Define AsyncAPI specifications for event-driven data exchange and secure APIs. 

Minimum Requirements

• 5–8 years in data engineering with strong SQL, Python, or Java skills;
• Deep experience with Google Cloud data services (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Datastream, Cloud Workflow);
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, data governance, and multi-cloud environments;
• Proven use of Gen-AI tools for data engineering automation and observability.

• Expertise in data security, privacy, and observability best practices;
