Aviation Maintenance Foreman – Job Opening

About the Role

The Maintenance Foreman plays a key leadership role within our FAA Part 145 Repair Station and Part 91 operations, overseeing inspection, repair, and maintenance activities to ensure the safety, quality, and reliability of aircraft. This position is based in Newport News, VA and reports directly to the Director of Maintenance.
You will join a dedicated Maintenance team that works closely with Avionics, Structures, Quality, and Materials to support compliant, efficient, and customer‑focused maintenance operations.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensuring compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations, RSM, QCM, and all applicable safety standards.
  • Staying current with Airworthiness Directives, service bulletins, and manufacturer publications.
  • Managing audits, inspections, certifications, and FAA interactions.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of all maintenance actions.

Maintenance Operations Management

  • Overseeing daily inspections, repairs, overhauls, and modifications.
  • Supervising A&P mechanics, repairmen, and support staff.
  • Collaborating with Avionics and Structures leaders for scheduling and project execution.
  • Assigning project leads, managing labor planning, and prioritizing workflow.
  • Ensuring use of approved data, tooling, and maintaining Tool Control/FOD programs.

Personnel Leadership

  • Training, mentoring, and evaluating maintenance staff.
  • Conducting recurrent training and promoting a culture of safety and accountability.

Quality & Safety Assurance

  • Supporting quality procedures and resolving discrepancies.
  • Enforcing SMS practices and ensuring prompt reporting of safety issues.

Customer & Vendor Interaction

  • Communicating job status, discrepancies, and timelines with customers.
  • Coordinating with the Materials Department and outside vendors for tooling, parts, and support.
  • Ensuring timely, high‑quality, on‑budget service delivery.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate records for maintenance, training, tooling, and equipment.
  • Preparing reports, analyzing performance data, and recommending process improvements.
  • Leading the Daily Fleet Status meeting with detailed maintenance updates.

 

You Must Have

Required Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or management role within a Part 145 environment.
  • Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145, Part 43, and Part 65.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and repair schemes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a high‑paced, regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inspection Authorization (IA) or experience as a Chief Inspector or Quality Manager.
  • Experience with Learjet and Gulfstream platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise maintenance tracking systems (e.g., CAMP, Corridor, TRAX).

 

Job Requirements

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and digital maintenance systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in hangar/industrial environments with exposure to noise, fumes, and hazards, and lift up to 50 lbs.
