Core business operation hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am - 4:30pm


Position Description:

The Estimator will oversee the cost estimation process for all manufacturing opportunities. This role involves close collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and vendors to deliver accurate, timely quotes that align with customer requirements and production capabilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage Quoting Process: Lead all quoting activities, working directly with Sales to develop accurate estimates based on overall opportunity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Sales, Engineering, Production Control, and Manufacturing to gather information and ensure feasibility and accurate cost estimations.
  • Quote vs. Actual Reporting: Analyze differences between estimated costs and actual project results to understand gaps and continuously assess and optimize cost estimate to balance competitiveness with profitability.
  • Assess Manufacturing Capabilities: Evaluate and maintain internal and external manufacturing capabilities to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain Estimating Tools: Manage and improve estimating tools within the operating system to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Buy vs. Make: Assess opportunities to determine whether parts should be produced internally or sourced externally, ensuring the most cost-effective approach to secure business.
  • Customer Communication: Occasionally interact with clients to clarify project requirements and/or present estimate details professionally and confidently.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sales/estimating within a manufacturing environment (preferably hydraulic or similar technical industries) and post-secondary education in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of hydraulic cylinder design, operation, and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), blueprint reading, and strong math/analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including a strong ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
