From simplifying complex benefits modernization projects for state agencies to standing up efficient disaster relief programs, AidKit helps it’s partners deliver aid with dignity.

We were our own first customer—AidKit started as a nonprofit initiative born from the need to support systematically excluded workers during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, AidKit provides the technology backbone for some of the nation's most innovative public safety net programs, having distributed hundreds of millions of dollars to people in need.

As we continue to grow rapidly, the opportunity for impact is immense. Apply to join our team if you're seeking meaningful work in an environment that trusts your judgment and values your unique contributions.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager who thrives in a startup environment and excels at balancing competing priorities. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting & Payments, you will lead all aspects of accounting operations while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

This is a key role in a growing SaaS company, where you'll tackle both day-to-day responsibilities and long-term strategic projects with a 360° view of financial operations. You’ll also play a vital role in supporting AidKit’s transition to a new accounting system, Rillet, and should be excited about implementing and optimizing financial technology solutions. Given our startup environment, we value creative problem-solvers who can think outside the box, adapt to new challenges, and get the job done with autonomy. For the right candidate, this role offers significant growth potential within the accounting and finance function as AidKit continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), general ledger (GL), and revenue recognition processes.
  • Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables such as Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Maintain financial operations independently while the Director of Accounting & Payments is on maternity leave (May - August 2025), ensuring no disruption in reporting and compliance.
  • Manage consolidation and reporting for multiple entities, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Drive the continued implementation and optimization of Rillet, our new accounting system, and integrate it effectively into our financial workflows.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting projects to support strategic decision-making, metrics development, and performance analytics.
  • Play a key role in the company's forecasting and budgeting processes, working closely with cross-functional teams to align financial planning with business goals.
  • Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, including sales tax and income tax filings.
  • Evaluate and refine accounting systems and processes, ensuring scalability and efficiency as the company grows.

About You

These are not firm “qualifications” required, we care more about the skills you exhibit and a growth mindset than checking boxes.

  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in a Software as a Service (SaaS) company.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP principles, with a strong focus on revenue recognition.
  • Proven track record of independently handling AR/AP processes, bookkeeping, and month-end/year-end financial closings from start to finish.
  • Experience and understanding of managing sales tax and income tax reporting.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a knack for solving complex financial puzzles.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing new accounting software like Rillet, Ramp, Rippling, or prior experience with NetSuite or Intacct.
  • Excited to navigate new financial systems, create scalable processes, and improve operational efficiency in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • A CPA certification is nice to have but not required.
  • You care deeply about the mission of direct aid and supporting anyone who needs help, no matter where they come from.
