Summary 

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to lead and refine our cost estimation practices for residential construction projects based in Calgary, Alberta. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our project budgets are accurate, data-driven, and aligned with business goals. This role reports directly to the Estimating Manager and will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Design and Field Operations. 

The Opportunity 

As the Senior Estimator at Akash Homes, you will be responsible for owning the estimation process for complex and multi-family projects. You’ll manage data integrity, mentor junior estimators, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver precise and competitive cost planning. What You’ll Work On 

Estimation Management 

• Lead the preparation of cost estimates for complex residential construction projects, including multi-family developments. 

• Review and validate estimates completed by junior estimators to ensure quality and accuracy. 

• Continuously improve our estimation databases, templates, and processes to reflect market trends and internal benchmarks. 

Project Oversight & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Manage estimation timelines across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 

• Partner with site supervisors, project managers, and drafters to produce comprehensive and practical cost plans. 

• Provide strategic input during project pre-planning and ongoing cost control reviews. 

Cost Analysis & Efficiency Improvements 

• Conduct detailed cost breakdowns to identify potential efficiencies and value engineering opportunities. 

• Maintain awareness of shifting material and labour pricing trends to proactively manage risk and ensure accuracy. 

Supplier & Subcontractor Relations 

• Develop and maintain strong supplier and trade partner relationships in the Calgary region. 

• Negotiate pricing and contract terms to support Akash Homes’ operational and financial goals. 

Mentorship & Leadership 

• Provide mentorship and leadership to junior estimators, promoting professional development and knowledge-sharing. 

• Uphold a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the estimating team. 

What You’ll Bring 

• 5+ years of residential construction estimating experience, ideally including single- and multi-family builds. 

• Strong knowledge of building materials, code requirements, labour practices, and regional pricing in Alberta. 

• Proven experience using estimation and ERP software (e.g., Buildertrend, Sage Estimating, or similar). 

• Effective negotiation and supplier management skills. 

• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
