SUMMARY

 

Due to a huge increase in business, Heritage Aviation LTD is looking for an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator.  Candidate must have a complete and thorough understanding of the aerospace machine shop industry and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  To be successful, candidate must be an excellent problem solver with 5+ yrs experience machining,  Candidate must be able to read blue prints effectively with good mechanical aptitude and common sense.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

-Set up mills, tools and attachments, and operates machines in accordance with work instructions.

-Experienced with the use of Fixtures, Bored Jaws, Custom Tooling and other Attachments

-Read and interpret blue prints, work instructions and other engineering information to determine the machining process and sequence of operations.

-Measure dimensions and tolerances using hand measuring tools.

-Machine parts to specifications on a 3/4/5 axis CNC milling machine.

-Setup and adjust holding fixtures, machine tools and work material in accordance to work instructions.

-Check and maintain machine-cutting tools for adequacy in operation.

-Calculate and monitor speed and feeds of the machine.

-Conduct proper inspection of first-run and in-process piece parts.

-Accurate record keeping- log information on scraped piece parts and complete production routers.

-Maintains constant focus on minimizing scrap to near zero output.

-Maintains a safe and clean working environment.

-Ensure the quality of a piece part.

- May provide training to lower level machinists.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

- Good social skills and the ability to work well under direct supervisor; individual will be working closely with shop manager.

- Mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- The ability to exercise good reasoning skills; must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and demonstrate the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

5+ years related CNC machinist experience: (i) reading and understanding mechanical drawings; (ii) using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as drill presses, rivet and hardware presses OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 

3+ years’ experience with 4 and 5 axis setups.

3+ years Set up experience required and is a must.

Previous experience manufacturing simple to complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies preferred.

Aerospace and Tool/Die experience is a plus.

-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
