Reports To: Manufacturing Engineer Manager | Location: Grand Prairie, TX |
Supports the Manufacturing Engineering Department to advance greater deployment of automation and robotics, and data-driven operational excellence. Lead and/or support the selection and implementation of automation equipment and processes to increase output and reduce cost. Design, develop, and facilitate the build and purchase of fixtures, production tools, and in-house automation projects used in operations to ensure efficient production processes, improve workflow, and reduce workplace injuries.
Provides technical guidance in addition to timely problem resolution to manufacturing operators. Creates assembly planning based on drawings and solid models, participates in engineering technical reviews, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and interfaces with Tech Ops/Design Engineering organization to implement DFA concepts.
Applies lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost and increase yields. Investigates root cause of failures/defects and implements corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Prepare manufacturing estimates, including raw material, purchased parts, machine shop, mechanical inspection, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, electrical inspection, electrical test, manufacturing support, and quality process support costs.
· Review design layouts and engineering drawings; make recommendations for changes or modifications to facilitate manufacturing of assembly operations.
· Develop and maintain specific work instructions and process procedures consistent with requirements of ISO 9100.
· Prepare operations sheets and assembly/manufacturing instructions, showing sequence of operations, details of each operation, machine, tooling and fixturing to be used, inspection instructions and test requirements.
· Incorporate engineering change orders, advanced engineering change orders, notices of revision and approved engineering change proposals in operations sheets and assembly instructions.
· Monitor assembly/electronic/manufacturing instruction sheets and operations sheets to continuously improve the efficiency of the Manufacturing Departments. Assume a primary role as the Manufacturing person responsible to support the Design to Cost concept.
· Evaluate assembly and test flow of material for facilities modifications that will improve efficiency in the Manufacturing Departments.
· Initiate requisitions for special tools, fixtures, and equipment; assist Purchasing in specifications and procurement of tools and fixtures. Work to simplify tool design.
· Develop corrective/preventative action plans as required.
· Perform the duties as outlined in common duties for major build to print production programs and small development programs.
· Prepare estimates to complete reports for assigned programs. Investigate and report on program cost overruns, under runs, and schedule discrepancies as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Experience, Education, and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
· Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
· In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Skills:
· ERP/MRP, ECI MAX, SAP, Epicore or equivalent capability
· Creo, Solidworks, 3D modeling w/ 2D drawing & GD&T exposure
· Lean certification(s) Lean Expert, GreenBelt, BlackBelt

70,000.00 - 85,000.00 USD per year
