Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Tactical Aircraft Solutions (TAS) division of Albers. The engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary project team and be responsible for electrical engineering support of avionics and electrical system components integration, and the integration of various mission systems (sensors, radar, etc) onto fixed wing aircraft for foreign and domestic customers.  The engineer will be involved in projects from concept through implementation and work closely with other members of the engineering team, equipment manufacturers and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DER) to ensure safe and viable designs.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze aircraft electrical systems and avionics products
  • Develop design specifications and technical drawings
  • Specify components, wire and connector sizing, and interfaces
  • Generate formal electrical schematics and drawings
  • Monitor hardware engineering and product costs
  • Maintain (electronic) files of schematics and diagrams
  • Follow Engineering Development and Review Processes
  • Validate schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Research suitable solutions while estimating costs & schedule
  • Work with engineers and technicians in design and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft.
  • Design test plans, conduct tests and author reports
  • Record, analyze, and interpret test data
  • Adhere to Quality Management processes and policies

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree in associated discipline with min 10 years’ experience in aviation industry
  • 5‐10 years’ experience with aviation electrical, or avionics development and/or integration of various mission systems
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of aerospace electrical system design standards and industry best practices
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Experience with aircraft wiring and avionics
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency creating system block diagrams, wiring diagrams, wire routing lists and wire harness drawings.
  • Knowledge of applicable FAA (14 CFR Part 23) airworthiness standards
  • Ability to create electrical loads analysis (ELA)
  • Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516 airworthiness criteria (desired) 
  • Proficient using AutoCAD or Solidworks Electrical
  • Experience with CMPro desired
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the following communication protocols:
    • ethernet, serial communications (RS-232, RS-485, RS-422), ARINC-429, MIL-STD 1553

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required from time to time

The pay for this role is:

$130,000 to $140,000 per year plus benefits
