Summary:

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for new and existing container products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams—including business development, manufacturing, and quality assurance—to ensure all design outputs meet internal and external standards for quality, safety, and performance.

 

The Design Engineer applies knowledge of materials, engineering methods, and production processes to optimize design and support product development from concept through to production.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create conceptual and detailed storage container designs that meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce and maintain technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct prototype testing and support the transition of designs to manufacturing.
  • Use CAD software (AutoDesk Inventor preferred) to develop 3D models and 2D drawings; generate bills of material.
  • Apply FEA tools (Ansys Mechanical preferred) to analyze and validate designs.
  • Perform feasibility studies, risk assessments, and simulations to support decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvements, cost reductions, and product optimization.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and production teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Interface with supply chain to source components meeting technical specifications.
  • Maintain design records and engineering change documentation per company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional brainstorming sessions.
  • Travel to customer or partner locations as required (less than 10%).

 

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in a design engineering role within an industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools; experience with AutoDesk Inventor strongly preferred.
  • Strong modeling experience for product design and development.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA); familiarity with Ansys Mechanical is a plus.
  • Knowledge of shock, vibration, and dynamic analysis related to structural design and testing.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

 

Work Environment:

This position is based in a warehouse setting where teamwork and efficiency are essential.

 

Shift:  

Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM

The pay range for this role is:

80,000 - 90,000 USD per year (GCS - GARRETT CONTAINER)

80,000 - 90,000 USD per year (HAHQ -HERITAGE FAC-GRAND PRAIRIE)

80,000 - 90,000 USD per year (AMATX- AMARILLO TX)
