Specialty Pharmacy Technician

AleraCare is leading provider of infusion treatments and specialty pharmacy services. AleraCare’s primary goal is to provide a safe and comfortable site of care for patients to receive the highest quality services in a comfortable, private, and cost-effective environment. We currently have 30+ ambulatory infusion clinics in six western states where our skilled nursing professionals administer infusion and injection therapies for patients with ongoing care needs, communicating with referring providers at every step.

Specialty Pharmacy Technician:

Responsible for the accurate entry and verification of all prescription drug data components associated with a physician referral.  Primary point of contact for physician’s offices and will collaborate with them both via fax and phone calls to obtain all necessary prescription data components. 

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Processing prescriptions (handwritten and electronic) into the EMR and ensuring all data components are entered accurately and completely
  • Verifying the accuracy of previously entered prescriptions and ensuring all necessary labs and clinical documentation has been obtained
  • Partnering with physicians’ offices to obtain missing components of prescriptions/referrals
  • Partner with the Intake team to assist in the submission of Prior Authorization requests from insurance
  • Answer questions of physicians, pharma, and patients via phone calls

Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Current AZ Pharmacy Technician National PTCB Certification

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pharmacy processing and the data components of a prescription
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards of services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Basic PC skills including email, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Typing skills ~40 words per minute
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending process improvements.
  • Strong communication skills to speak with external service providers and internally with the AleraCare team to coordinate services.
  • Strong organizational skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in entering infusion prescriptions
  • Previous experience in quality control style positions
  • Medical Billing/Collections or Intake/Admissions Experience.
