Job Title: Accountant

Reports to: VP, Assistant Controller


Job Description:

Alger is looking for an Accountant to join our growing team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful and established financial services firm.  This individual will be an integral part of our 6-person Accounting team and will assist in the preparation of journal entries and monthly financial statements as well as conduct research and reconcile GL accounts. The Accountant will also be responsible, under supervision, for assisting in the preparation of various, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.  In this position, you will be responsible for general corporate accounting functions, ad hoc projects and reporting as well as assisting with month-end and year-end close. There is opportunity to grow in the role over time and take on more responsibilities.


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Provides support for preparing financial statements by obtaining supplementary information
  • Under direct supervision, will assist in performing account reconciliations
  • Under direct supervision, will assist in analyzing and verifying information through advanced application of spreadsheet design
  • Under direct supervision, will assist with the production of materials for our annual audit
  • Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required at the direction and supervision of the AVP, Assistant Controller

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 in a 4.0 scale required
  • 2 to 5+ years’ accounting experience across public and private industry
  • Experience in the Asset Management or mutual fund industry preferred
  • Public Accounting experience preferred
  • CPA a plus
  • Oracle Fusion Accounting Software & Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence reporting

Salary Expectations: $85,000-$110,000 base salary plus discretionary bonus per performance
