As COO, you will play a key role in driving operational excellence to promote growth, efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Allegiance is a mid-eight-figure brand that has seen strong, consistent growth year after year, often exceeding triple digits. We are privately owned by our three co-founders and have never taken outside investment, allowing us to prioritize long-term, sustainable growth over short-term returns. There are no investors to appease! This role offers the freedom to make decisions based on what’s best for the business in the long run.

Position Overview:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational functions of Allegiance Flag Supply. This individual will ensure smooth, efficient operations across all operational departments (currently ~80 people), drive operational excellence and support the company's long-term growth and profitability. The COO will report directly to one of our Co-Founders and will work collaboratively with senior leadership to execute strategic initiatives, scale processes and deliver exceptional customer experiences. This person will have the opportunity and expectation to make a quick and meaningful impact. 

Key Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Implement business strategies, both through proven experience and forward-thinking proactivity, to optimize operational performance that will ensure the successful execution of company objectives.
  • Support the leadership team in developing annual/quarterly operating plans, setting strategic objectives and executing key business goals across multiple functional areas.
  • Oversee daily operations and employee productivity, ensuring a highly inclusive culture where team members thrive and organizational goals are met.
  • Manage capital investments and operational expenses to meet company targets for growth and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with key partner organizations, vendors, suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention strategies are in place.

Operations Leadership:

  • Support the Senior Director of Operations and his team in overseeing the production planning and process, ensuring flags are produced on time, to the highest quality, and within budget.
  • Manage the end-to-end order fulfillment process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while constantly looking for ways to improve strategy and systems.
  • Develop and manage the supply chain alongside our Systems and Inventory Manager to ensure materials are procured cost-effectively while maintaining necessary inventory levels to support a rapidly growing e-commerce business.
  • Regularly negotiate with suppliers on costing, order quantities, and order terms.
  • Work closely with major shipping partners to ensure rates are competitive while maintaining reliable deliverability and consistency across our customer base.

Financial Oversight & Process Improvement:

  • Aggressively manage capital investments, operational expenses and resources to achieve financial targets and profitability.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements across all areas of operations, reducing costs and enhancing efficiency.
  • Monitor key operational metrics and provide regular updates to the executive leadership team.
  • Maintain constant awareness of cash allocation across all operational inputs.
  • Ongoing data collection and continuous refinement of implementation based on the insights derived from that data.

Customer Service Leadership:

  • Support the Director of Customer Service in establishing high standards for customer communication, issue resolution and service delivery.
  • Ensure that customer satisfaction remains a top priority and implement strategies to measure and improve customer experience.
  • Work with the Director of Customer service to support the long-term vision of the department and ensure customer-centric values are embedded in all operational aspects of the team.

Human Resources Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the HR Manager, ensuring alignment with company objectives for talent acquisition, training, employee engagement, performance management, company policies and retention strategies.
  • Provide constructive feedback, timely performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Handle employee lifecycle milestones in accordance with company policy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and maintaining a strong focus on team development.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all industry regulations, safety standards and company policies.
  • Create a work environment where employees are empowered to prioritize safety and operational efficiency.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the leadership team, including reporting on operational performance, departmental success and strategic initiatives.
  • Optimizing and maximizing the utilization of our ERP system.
  • Commercial real estate strategy.
  • Ensuring all operational aspects of the business are carrying the proper insurance levels.
  • Tax incentive strategy and optimization.

  • Problem Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong diagnostic abilities and analytical skills to quickly identify issues and devise practical solutions.
  • Business Planning & Strategy: Deep understanding of advanced business planning, financial forecasting and regulatory compliance.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Customer & Interpersonal Skills: Skilled at building relationships and delivering high-quality customer service when necessary.
  • Organizational & Time Management Skills: Detail-oriented and organized, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Supervisory & Delegation Skills: Strong supervisory and delegation skills, with the ability to manage and develop department leaders.
  • Tech Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software and experience using operational tools to drive efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Human Resources or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role in a manufacturing, operations or supply chain environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving operational improvements, managing complex processes and achieving business goals.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, performance metrics and operational cost control.
