About Altom Transport

Altom Transport is a premier bulk liquid carrier specializing in petroleum and chemical transportation across North America. With a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, we are seeking a Summer 2025 Audit Intern to work closely with our company controller. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial auditing, compliance, and internal controls within the transportation industry.

Location: Hammond, IN (In-Person)
Duration: Summer 2025 (Full-Time, 10-12 weeks)
Who We’re Looking For: Junior-level students going into their senior year in Fall 2025

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations
• Review financial records, transactions, and expense reports for accuracy
• Analyze accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processes for efficiency and accuracy
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end financial close procedures
• Work with the controller to identify and implement process improvements
• Help prepare audit reports and documentation for leadership review
• Maintain confidential financial information with integrity and discretion
• Support special projects and compliance initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Currently a junior pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools is a plus
• Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is a plus
