Receiving Coordinator

About American Spoon

In 1982, we began making preserves in our Northern Michigan storefront kitchen. After all these years, our skilled crew still prepares fruit by hand and cooks with care in small-batch copper kettles. We work directly with a dedicated group of Michigan farmers and foragers who grow and gather the unique varieties of fruit we love, prized over generations for unparalleled taste and character. Our small, family-owned company exists, to find, capture, and preserve flavors you simply won’t find anywhere else.

You’ll also partner with the Production Manager on a daily “needs list” and coordinate timely pulls/deliveries from the warehouse.

What You’ll Do

  • Receive & verify all incoming deliveries (ingredients, packaging, supplies): check counts, condition, and paperwork (packing lists).
  • Organize and maintain the receiving area, cooler and freezer: clear labeling, logical layout, and safe, efficient traffic flow.
  • Coordinate daily “needs list” with the Production Manager; stage and deliver materials from the warehouse to production on schedule.
  • Put away & rotate stock; keep locations accurate and tidy.
  • Communicate clearly with Production, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams about priorities, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Uphold safety and cleanliness standards at the dock, in the aisles, and in the cooler.

What You Bring

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong spatial organization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and reliable follow-through.
  • Good communicator—clear, respectful, and timely.
  • Ability to lift 60+ pounds safely and work on your feet in warehouse/cooler conditions.
  • Forktruck/forklift experience is a huge plus (we will train/certify if needed).
  • Food production experience not required—we will train the right person.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Basic familiarity with receiving paperwork and simple inventory counts.
  • Comfort using basic spreadsheets (we’ll train).

Perks & Details

  • $20/hour starting pay, with paid holidays, PTO, and sick pay.
  • Seasonal variety in hours (30–42 hrs/week), with opportunities to learn and grow across teams.
  • A mission-driven, quality-focused workplace where organization and pride in craft matter.
