Summary

We’re looking for a Principal People Business Partner (Director-level Individual Contributor) who combines strategic business acumen, executive influence, and deep HR expertise. This role partners closely with senior leaders — particularly in Product & Engineering — to shape and execute people strategies that drive company goals. The ideal candidate is a confident operator with the composure, credibility, and data fluency to advise executives, guide org design, and influence key business decisions.

We’re seeking someone who acts as a true strategic partner, builds trust quickly, and can influence without authority — all while thriving in a fast-moving, high-growth tech environment.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to C-levels, VPs and senior leaders, aligning people strategy to business goals.
  • Drive strategic initiatives related to org design, workforce planning, and talent management.
  • Translate engagement and performance data into insights that shape leadership decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with other HR teams (Comp, L&D, Ops) to co-create scalable, business-aligned people programs.
  • Influence decisions with a strong point of view and evidence-based recommendations — especially in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.
  • Coach leaders through organizational change, feedback, and performance challenges with confidence and clarity.

What You Need:

  • 12+ years in HR, with at least 8 years combined in a true HRBP, Director level, or Head of People role supporting executive leaders.
  • Proven ability to build trust and influence C-level and VP stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in org design, talent planning, and driving strategic initiatives in dynamic, fast-paced companies.
  • Strong data fluency — not just tracking metrics but interpreting and acting on them.
  • You can talk in business outcomes, not just HR language. You bring a grounded, practical, and business-first mindset to the People function.
  • Clear executive presence — persuasive, credible, and calm under pressure.
  • Experience in SaaS, developer tools, AI/data science, or open-source environments is a major plus.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, speed, and shifting priorities. You don’t need perfect systems to make an impact.
  • Interest in AI tools and how they can be leveraged to streamline or improve People work — but not a requirement for the role.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • You’ve influenced senior executives through strategic people guidance in high-growth, high-change environments.
  • Proven experience leading People teams at a high level, with a track record of shaping strategy and driving results.
  • A forward-thinking approach to leveraging AI in the People function.
  • Using technology to enhance decision-making, automate processes, and improve the employee experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude and a personal passion for AI, staying ahead of trends and actively using AI tools in your work.
  • Experience working in an open-source, AI, or data science-oriented company.

Why You'll Like Working Here:

  • Unique opportunity to translate strong open-source adoption and user enthusiasm into commercial product growth
  • Dynamic company that rewards high-performers
  • On the cutting edge of enterprise application of data science, machine learning, and AI
  • Collaborative team environment that values multiple perspectives and clear thinking
  • Employees-first culture
  • Flexible working hours
  • Medical*, Dental*, Vision*, HSA*, Life* and 401K*
  • Paid parental leave - both parents
  • Monthly productivity stipend
  • Open vacation policy*
  • Quarterly Snake days (company-wide bonus day off)
  • 100% remote

*FTE employees based on your region
