As an Activities Assistant, you will have the opportunity to provide essential support and care to adults with developmental disabilities, empowering them to live fulfilling lives. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in planning and executing daily activities in their communities.
- Foster meaningful relationships with individuals served, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social integration.
- Implement individualized care plans and behavioral interventions under the guidance of supervisors and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals served by monitoring their health, behavior, and environment.
- Document all interactions, observations, and incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, therapists, and case managers, to optimize the quality of care and support provided.
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and team meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a college or university program (preferred majors include psychology, social work, nursing, special education, or related fields).
- Passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and promoting their inclusion in the community.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to different locations within the community.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
