As our firm continues to grow, we’re seeking a detail-oriented Director of Accounting to lead and strengthen our internal accounting function and ensure smooth day-to-day financial operations.




Position Overview
The Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing the firm’s accounting department, systems, and workflows. This role is hands-on, with an emphasis on team leadership, internal process development, trust account compliance, and timely execution of daily and monthly accounting responsibilities.

This is a leadership role focused on team management, operational excellence, and process oversight.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise all accounting department activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
  • Manage and coach a small team of accounting staff to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Oversee the integrity of daily and monthly accounting processes and reporting cycles.
  • Maintain proper trust accounting procedures in compliance with state bar and legal ethics rules.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve internal accounting processes and controls.
  • Coordinate with external tax professionals, auditors, and vendors as needed.
  • Review and approve monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and internal reports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for financial operations within the firm.

Requirements

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a legal, professional services, or other trust-account-compliant environment preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, and process management.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online).
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accountability in deadline-driven environments.
