About the role

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to design and own enclosures for industrial, outdoor, and camera-based systems. This role focuses on enclosure design, material selection, environmental protection, manufacturability, ensuring compatibility with optics, thermal requirements, and wireless systems.

The ideal candidate has taken enclosures from CAD → prototype → production and understands real-world constraints such as ingress protection, thermal performance, and certification.

What You'll Do:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:

  • Design and develop enclosures for electronic systems, including:
    • Outdoor Camera enclosures (optical & thermal)
    • Outdoor and industrial-grade housings (battery, solar controllers etc)
  • Select materials and manufacturing methods across:
    • Aluminum, steel, stainless steel
    • Plastics and composites
    • Additive and subtractive processes
  • Design for environmental durability:
    • Dust, moisture, temperature, vibration
  • Collaborate closely with EE and RF teams to ensure:
    • Thermal Performance
    • Antenna placement and RF transparency
  • Support prototyping, testing, and production handoff

What You Bring:

  • 3+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience
  • Strong experience with enclosure design for electronics
  • Working knowledge of IP ratings (IP65, IP66, IP67, etc.) and related standards
  • Experience designing parts for:
    • CNC machining
    • Sheet metal
    • Injection molding
    • 3D printing
  • Proficiency with modern CAD tools (currently in Fusion 360)

Bonus Points:

  • Experience designing camera enclosures involving:
    • Optical windows
    • Thermal viewports (thermal camera)
    • Thermal isolation
    • Lens alignment and sealing
  • Experience designing around wireless systems inside enclosures:
    • Antenna placement
    • RF-friendly materials
    • Shielding tradeoffs
  • Familiarity with:
    • FCC / CE / regional certification processes
    • Industrial or hazardous-location environments (C1D2, C1D1)

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this role is $90,000-$130,000, plus a competitive equity package.

In line with Andium's values and applicable laws, we share this information to support pay transparency and equal opportunity. Compensation within the listed range will vary based on each candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
