About the Role

Are you an HR pro who thrives in the details but knows how to keep things light? We’re looking for an experienced and resourceful HR Business Partner who can roll up their sleeves on everything from payroll and benefits to policy work and advisory support —all while helping foster a fun, inclusive work environment! This role plays a key part in supporting first-line supervisors and employees, while owning critical areas including total rewards, team support, while also supporting important functions such as recruitment, onboarding, policy support and other core HR operations.

The ideal candidate is confident in making decisions that balance the needs of employees and the organization, with a clear sense of integrity and accountability. You’re someone who thrives in a dynamic, growing environment, is comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done, and brings an entrepreneurial mindset to your work. You’re a team player who leads with support, but you’re also comfortable holding the line and ensuring consistency and compliance.

This role requires a strong foundation in Canadian employment practices, benefits, payroll, and HRIS systems. If you're someone who can operate independently while staying deeply connected to the team and our shared goals — we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Total Rewards (Benefits & Payroll)
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, wellness, and leave policies.
  • Act as the go-to resource for employee benefit questions, ensuring clear communication and support.
  • Liaise with payroll providers and internal finance to ensure payroll accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and provincial payroll and benefits regulations.
  • Support annual renewals, benefits audits, and related reporting.

Employee Support & HR Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted partner to first-line supervisors and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, policies, employee and performance matters.
  • Promote a consistent and positive employee experience, resolving issues with fairness and discretion.
  • Interpret and apply employment legislation and company policies to real-world scenarios with sound judgment.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding Support

  • Collaborate with the Director, People Operations to support recruitment needs, from posting roles to screening candidates and facilitating offers to create the most positive candidate experience.
  • Work closely with our office team and support with onboarding coordination to ensure new employees have a seamless and engaging experience.

HR Systems & Data

  • Maintain employee records and documentation in the HRIS and related systems.
  • Generate regular HR reports and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance HR operations through system improvements and automation.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4-7 years of progressive HR experience!
  • Bachelor’s in BA in Business, Human Resources or an equivalent type of education, but those with experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in Canadian payroll and benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Employment Standards and HR compliance across provinces.
  • Experience supporting end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and support with clarity and compassion.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally across teams in a confidential and sound manner.
  • Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset; thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS platforms (e.g., BambooHR,, Rippling, Workday or similar).
  • Bonus if you have a CPHR or equivalent designation!

What You Bring to the Team

  • You’re self-motivated and thrive when given ownership to make smart, people-centered decisions.
  • You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and can prioritize in a changing environment.
  • You bring a strong sense of judgment and are confident in acting in alignment with both team values and company goals.
  • You’re willing to dig in and do the work — no task is too big or too small.
  • You balance compassion and professionalism, and always aim to elevate the employee experience.
  • You are also open to the role being hybrid and coming into the office 2 or 3 days a week is an important aspect to the success of the role.
