About the Role
As our Director of Technical Product, you will lead our platform strategy and technical product initiatives. This role will serve as the bridge between Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure, integrations, and tools scale effectively to meet both our students and partners’ needs. You will champion seamless learner experience, internal usability, and customer requirements through a lens of platform scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
This is a strategic and executional role designed for a Director who thrives in fast-paced environments. You will enjoy rolling your sleeves up, excel at technical problem-solving, and enjoy building structure and process.
What you'll do
Platform & Technical Product Strategy
- Define and evolve Archer’s technical product vision across product delivery and usage platforms, immersive learning capabilities, data sharing, and general infrastructure.
- Drive discovery and prioritization of cross-cutting features such as AI-based features, LMS capabilities, content delivery modalities, user authentication, API architecture and integrations, user management, and data systems.
- Translate technical opportunities into product capabilities in a way that non-technical folks can understand to improve both learner experiences and internal tooling.
- Represent product and tech as solutions engineer with prospective customers pre-sale when necessary.
Product Execution & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Commercial / Clinical teams to define business outcomes, requirements, workflows, and prioritization for technical products.
- Partner with Product Owners to ensure platform considerations are baked into new product development.
- Maintain detailed documentation of platform logic, dependencies, and data flows.
- Define and work cross-functionally to implement process for technical product execution between product and engineering teams.
Vendor & Tooling Management
- Evaluate and implement third-party platforms or integrations that complement our core architecture.
- Lead technical product diligence for potential tools or partnerships related to learning capabilities, features, personalized learning, or product delivery.
Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for platform reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Proactively identify risks across systems and lead resolution efforts before they impact learners, customers, or staff.
- Ensure best practices in accessibility, data privacy, user security, and compliance in coordination with Engineering.
Team Support & Leadership
- Manage day-to-day activities of a multidisciplinary team (~2-3 direct reports), providing guidance and task prioritization.
- Foster a positive team culture grounded in communication, clarity, and accountability.
- Develop and mentor internal technical product team members.
About you
- 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in a technical or platform product role.
- Proven experience managing technical product portfolios, preferably in EdTech, SaaS, or platform-based organizations.
- Strong technical fluency with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and translate complexity into clear decisions.
- Excellent analytical thinking, tactical execution and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with systems thinking, content delivery platforms, and higher-ed institutional needs.
- Track record of implementing scalable and secure platforms in fast-growth environments.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), user identity management, and API-first architectures.
- Experience in remote-first organizations with asynchronous collaboration practices.
- Previous exposure to compliance, accessibility, and security frameworks relevant to digital learning platforms.
