Technical Live Ops Artist - AI Pipeline/Unity (Contract)

Who We Are

Founded in 2024, Ares Interactive is a privately held company built by a group of experienced leaders and veterans from some of the most respected organizations in interactive entertainment. Our team brings deep expertise across game development, publishing, and live operations, and shares a commitment to building exceptional player experiences.

We are growing and looking for talented individuals who want to help shape the future of our company. We believe great people are our most important asset. We work with passion and purpose, while supporting one another with professionalism and respect, creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.

About the role

We are looking for a highly autonomous and  tech savvy 2D Live Ops Artist to serve as the creative engine for Baseball Hits 26 live operations. You will be the primary partner to our Live Ops Manager, translating event goals, sales, and seasonal updates into high-quality, game-ready assets.

You are a problem solver. When faced with a technical hurdle or a tool you haven't used before, your first instinct is to troubleshoot, research, and solve it. You take pride in being a force multiplier who allows the rest of the team to stay focused by handling the complex, high-volume production needs of a live game.

This is not a "trainee" or "hand-holding" role. We are a small, fast-moving team. We need a "Swiss Army Knife" artist who treats a lack of documentation as a challenge rather than a roadblock. You must be able to dive into an existing Unity project, reverse-engineer asset structures, and deliver "plug-and-play" work without requiring oversight from the Art Director.

Contract Information

  • Duration: 3–6 months (Contract).
  • Hours: 20–30 hours per week (Flexible).
  • Reporting: Works directly with the Live Ops Manager; receives high-level brand guidance from the Art Director.

What you'll do

  • UI Sprites & Sprite Sheet Production
    • Design and export high-quality 2D UI Sprites and Sprite Sheets.
    • Own the technical setup: proper packing, padding, and optimization for the game engine.
    • Ensure all assets honor current project constraints regarding layering, anchor points, and prefab structures.
  • High-Volume Asset Automation
    • Don't just paint, build. Set up and maintain AI-augmented pipelines (using tools like ComfyUI, Layer AI, or Scenario) to batch-produce large sets of icons, item variations, or marketing assets.
    • Utilize Claude Code or similar LLM-based tools to scripts and solve a myriad of daily issues such as batch processing or file management/delivery in an effort to save time.
  • Technical Unity Integration & Scrappiness
    • Contextual Delivery: Navigate the Unity Editor to inspect existing Prefabs and Animation Controllers. You must understand how assets are hooked up so your deliveries work immediately upon import.
    • Self-Directed Troubleshooting: If a sprite isn't rendering correctly a flipbook is playing incorrectly, you are expected to investigate the Inspector to find the solution yourself.

Requirements & Background

  • Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency across the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • AI & Automation Tooling: Deep experience with generative and batch-processing tools (e.g., ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, Layer AI).
  • Technical & IT Literacy: * Professional experience with Perforce (P4V) (workspace management and conflict resolution).
    • Comfortable working with FTP, Virtual Machines (VMs), and remote desktop environments.
    • Ability to use Claude Code or scripting to automate technical pipeline bottlenecks.
  • Unity Fluency: You must be "engine-fluent"—comfortable navigating Prefab hierarchies and understanding how 2D sprites interact with game-side animations.
  • The "Black Box" Skillset: Proven ability to be dropped into a messy, established project and successfully deliver work by reverse-engineering existing assets and pipelines.
  • Attention to Detail: A "pixel-perfect" mindset regarding alignment, resolution, and naming conventions.

Application Requirements

Please provide a portfolio that highlights your production workflow. We are specifically interested in seeing examples of technical pipelines, automation tools, or scripts you have built to accelerate your output.
