General Position Description

The Data Engineer will be responsible for analyzing data collected from field reports and providing insights that inform decision-making. You will be responsible for ensuring that data is accurate and analyzed in a timely manner. You will collect internal and external customer feedback to continuously update and improve automated reporting on field experiments. You will have the opportunity to design or participate in the design of large-scale agricultural experiments. 


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze field reports to identify patterns, trends, and insights

  • Collaborate with team members to identify key areas for analysis and reporting improvement

  • Develop and maintain data management systems that ensure data accuracy and completeness

  • Interpret data to provide actionable insights for decision-making

  • Create reports, presentations, and visualizations that effectively communicate findings to stakeholders

  • Collaborate with project teams to provide data-driven insights that inform project planning and implementation

  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on project progress, priorities, and changes

  • Continuously monitor and improve data quality, accuracy, and completeness

  • Utilize data analysis software, statistical analysis tools, and other technologies to effectively analyze and report data

Key Competencies / Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s of Science degree (or higher) in a related field (e.g. statistics, data science, computer science, agronomy)

  • Proven experience in data analysis and visualization, preferably in the context of field reports

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g. Excel, SAS, R, Python) and/or data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)

  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks

  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and timelines

  • Experience with soil science, agriculture, or ecosystem science is a plus.

Employment Eligibility

Only applicants currently eligible to work in the United States will be considered for this position. 

The pay range for this role is:

100,000 - 130,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
