The Role

Ascent is seeking a Business Analyst who is passionate about data-driven decision-making, enhancing user experiences, and optimizing business processes. The Business Analyst is instrumental in analyzing business needs and translating them into technical requirements for our in-house applications, bridging the gap between our line-of-business teams and supporting technology solutions. Collaborating with key stakeholders, the Business Analyst will identify improvements to our application base critical to maintaining Ascent’s competitive edge in the marketplace. 

The Work

• Collaborate with stakeholders, product management and onshore/offshore development teams to ensure alignment with our organizational goals.  
• Evaluate our current lending industry business processes, identify pain points, and define opportunities for improvement through data analysis and stakeholder interviews. 
• Collect detailed functional and non-functional requirements from users, documenting clearly for application development. 
• Participate in testing, validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure that delivered improvements meet defined requirements. 
• Develop detailed business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories outlining system functionality, features, and user interface specifications.  
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, risks, and key deliverables. 
• Support the organization through transitions and help drive the successful adoption of new processes or systems.  

Your Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst with exposure to loan origination systems and other technology systems supporting real estate capital management.  
• Expertise with technology project management systems (JIRA/Confluence preferred) and process flow visualization software (LucidChart/Vizio/et. al.) 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to interpret stakeholder needs in the loan origination/capital management industry and translate insights into requirements documentation. 
• Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that requirements and supporting documents are accurate, comprehensive, and easy to understand. 
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

The Pay

Salary range is $80,000-$95,000 per year, with a discretionary bonus of 15% per year

The Work Environment

• This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).
• Full-time, must be available for occasional overtime.
• Some nights and weekends required.
