The Role.

Ascent is seeking a forward-thinking Director of Insights & Analytics to work closely with business leaders to manage risk, drive sales expansion, and provide insights into business performance to influence our investments. The Director will act as an internal data and strategy consultant to various departments and partner with Credit, Sales, and Technology teams to assess the impact of product changes on data and performance.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic to hire, mentor, and train analysts how to be the best at leveraging data and supporting internal clients. They will be a key contributor to Ascent's mission of fostering a culture of test and learn, and continuous improvement.

The Work.

  • Analyze data and offer strategic insights to internal stakeholders, helping to shape and guide business decisions.
  • Partner with the SVP of Data & Analytics to build and maintain a strong data infrastructure, focusing on data quality, security, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to prepare monthly strategy decks, assessing performance against the Company’s Annual Operating Plan and monitoring portfolio risks.
  • Partner with Credit, Sales, and Technology teams to evaluate product changes and their impact on data and performance.
  • Use data analytics to assess and manage risks associated with lending and investments.
  • Work with sales and marketing teams to identify data-driven opportunities for business growth, using analytics to target potential clients and optimize sales strategies.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to support, inform, and drive organizational success.
  • Oversee and enhance existing data pipelines, including the management of parent-child entity mappings for target clientele.
  • Develop models to anticipate potential issues and effectively mitigate risks.
  • Mentor and train analysts on leveraging data to better serve internal customers.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of key data sources (e.g., Black Knight, RE-distribute / MLS, House Canary, John Burns, etc.) and stay updated on the latest data trends.
  • Actively monitor emerging data sources in the market, identify improvement opportunities, and recommend strategies to maximize Ascent's data potential.

Your Skills and Experience.

  • Strong residential real estate (SFR/MFR) and/or mortgage banking experience required
  • 7+ years of experience in analytical or consulting roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field preferred
  • Proficient in SQL & Python, strong experience with data visualization tools like power BI or Tableau
  • Exposure to machine learning, data science, and data engineering is preferred
  • Experience articulating data and presenting insights and recommendations to management
  • Strong experience collaborating and communicating cross-functionally
  • Experience managing employees is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of statistical techniques
  • Experience using tools such as Black Knight, RE-distribute / MLS, House Canary, John Burns, etc.)

The Pay.

  • Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year
  • Bonus: 25% per year
