The Role

The Post Closer plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless completion of the loan process, serving as the final checkpoint for accuracy, compliance, and quality. By meticulously reviewing and preparing loan files for submission and resolving any post-closing issues, the Post Closer safeguards the integrity of our mortgage operations. Their attention to detail and proactive communication strengthens our team's efficiency and support our commitment to delivering exceptional service to borrowers and partners alike.


The Work

  • Thoroughly review closed loan files for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to company, investor, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Verify executed documents, including promissory notes, deeds of trust, and closing disclosures, to ensure compliance with underwriting and closing conditions.
  • Prepare and submit loan files to investors or government agencies for final approval and funding.
  • Maintain accurate records of loan files sent for post-closing review and follow up to address any deficiencies or missing documents.
  • Identify and resolve post-closing errors or discrepancies, working with internal and external parties such as title companies, attorneys, and funding teams.
  • Respond promptly to investor or agency requests for additional information or documentation.
  • Organize and upload loan documents into the company’s system for tracking and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure original documents are stored securely and delivered to the appropriate parties within required timelines.
  • Serve as the liaison between closing, underwriting, funding, and compliance teams to ensure smooth transitions in the loan lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with external partners, including title companies, attorneys, and investors.

Your Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma; bachelors degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in post-closing; experience in commercial loans is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in loan origination systems (LOS), document management systems, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong understanding of mortgage loan documents, investor requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

The Pay


Pay range is $36.00  - $39.00  per hour + overtime, with a discretionary bonus adding up to 15% per year

The Work Environment

  • This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week; must be available for occasional overtime.
  • Some nights and weekends required.
