Position Overview:
The Lead AV Installer/Technician III serves as a senior field technician responsible for executing complex installations, leading on-site technical efforts, leading on-site staff and supporting the Project Manager with coordination, quality control, and advanced troubleshooting. This role demonstrates deep technical expertise, provides leadership to technician teams, and ensures installations align with engineering intent, safety requirements, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Technician Execution
- Lead installation, configuration, and testing of complex A/V systems.
- Execute advanced rack builds, system interconnections, and device configuration.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across audio, video, control, and networked A/V systems.
- Support commissioning activities including DSP tuning, video calibration, and control validation as assigned.
- Ensure system performance aligns with design intent prior to client demonstration.
- Provide technician training and development onsite and in office environments.
Site & Field Support
- Provide on-site technical leadership and direction to Technician I and II staff.
- Coordinate daily technical activities with the Project Manager.
- Serve as a technical resource for resolving field challenges.
- Model best practices in safety, organization, and workmanship.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure installation documentation is complete and accurate.
- Identify design discrepancies and communicate recommended solutions.
- Support project closeout documentation as requested.
Qualifications:
- Advanced experience in commercial A/V integration.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability.
- Advanced troubleshooting and system optimization skills.
- Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the region
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily at the client job sites and may include offices, schools, industrial environments, and construction/renovation sites.
- The role involves frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, reaching, and lifting/carrying AV equipment and tools.
- Work may be performed in tight spaces, above ceilings, on lifts, or in unfinished construction areas.
- A Technician III must be able to safely operate hand/power tools and follow all site-specific safety requirements (PPE, access control, etc.).
- Schedule may vary based on project timelines and may occasionally include early starts, late finishes, or overtime to meet deadlines.
Travel & On-Site Activities
- Ability to travel to client locations, job sites, and offices as required.
- Occasional overnight or extended stay may be required but is not on a regular basis.
