About the role

We are seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Director of Software Engineering Practice to establish, scale, and provide strategic leadership for our nearshore software engineering organization in LatAm. This is a critical leadership role responsible for defining the technical vision, governing the engineering practice, driving organizational capability development across all technology domains, and ensuring the highest level of technical excellence and innovation in client delivery. The ideal candidate will be a proven organizational builder and a strategic technologist who will significantly impact our market presence and delivery efficiency, particularly through the aggressive adoption of emerging practices like AI-powered software development.


What you will do:

1. Practice and Organizational Leadership

  • Define, execute, and govern the strategic roadmap for the entire Software Engineering Practice in LatAm, aligning it with global business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a cohort of engineering managers and practice leads, building a sustainable leadership pipeline.
  • Establish and enforce practice-wide standards, methodologies, and quality gates for software architecture, development, and delivery.
  • Manage the practice's budget, resource planning, and financial performance, optimizing operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Act as the final technical escalation point, ensuring resolution of critical architecture and delivery challenges.

2. Technical Vision and Strategy

  • Set the long-term technical vision for our nearshore services, including technology stack evolution, cloud strategy, and data engineering capabilities.
  • Drive the systematic development and integration of advanced practices, including Generative AI for coding, testing, and delivery lifecycle optimization, to achieve step-change improvements in productivity and quality.
  • Champion a culture of strategic innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement across all client engagements.

3. Talent Management and Development

  • Own the talent strategy for the engineering organization, including high-volume, high-quality recruitment, retention, and career pathing for all technical roles.
  • Design and oversee a robust, continuous professional development program to cultivate high-demand skills (e.g., advanced cloud, machine learning, modern architecture) within the practice.
  • Conduct executive-level performance reviews and succession planning for key technical leadership roles.

4. Project and Delivery Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight for all major client engagements, ensuring technical governance, risk mitigation, and adherence to established practice standards.
  • Foster a strong partnership with the Delivery, Client Success and Sales teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality technical delivery model.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 18+ years of progressive experience in software development, with 8+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Director, VP, Head of Engineering) managing large-scale engineering organizations.
  • Extensive experience successfully establishing, scaling, and managing nearshore or offshore IT services/consulting practices.
  • Deep expertise in defining organizational structure, operating models, and governance for a multi-faceted technology practice.
  • Proven ability to set a strategic technical direction and drive the adoption of modern technology stacks, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Demonstrable experience implementing and driving strategic change through AI-driven development practices.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, executive-level communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.nt.
