About the role

The Development Officer, Institutional Partnerships manages a portfolio of foundation, government, and corporate funders, including developing proposals and reports and stewarding relationships. The officer also conducts prospect research in line with Astraea’s organizational and programmatic priorities and pipelines new funding to advance our mission. This position will report to the Director, Institutional Partnerships.

What you'll do


Stewardship
●     Manage portfolio of institutional resource partners, including all related correspondence and preparing and facilitating relevant funder meetings
●     Hold and strengthen relationships with current program officers and other funder contacts, stewarding them and deepening their engagement in and commitment to Astraea
●     Develop comprehensive reports that describe Astraea’s work and impact
 
Solicitation
●     Develop detailed and compelling proposals, concept notes, budgets, and correspondence to represent
Astraea’s programs and institutional activities to funders
●     Contribute actively to moves management strategy and to overall fundraising strategy at Astraea
 
Prospecting & Cultivation
●     Research and identify prospective funders, including tracking requests for proposals and other public
funding opportunities
●     Evaluate new opportunities to judge fit of prospective funding partnerships and RFPs with Astraea’s
strategies and priorities
●     Build relationships with the philanthropic community, donors, and peers through networking opportunities, such as conferences
●     Research and stay informed of emerging trends and practices in philanthropy and institutional giving
 
Internal Coordination & Collaboration
●     Build and maintain deep knowledge of Astraea’s programming through relationships and collaboration
with program staff
●     Project manage institutional partnerships' deadlines intra team and in strong and streamlined coordination with finance and program teams
●     Coordinate across teams to align funding with Astraea’s needs and priorities
●     Track funder restrictions & compliance requirements and Astraea's execution of said requirements in
coordination with program and finance teams
●     Maintain detailed and accurate records of submitted materials and funder interactions in virtual files and in donor management software
●     Maintain institutional partnerships handbook in partnership with the associate, institutional partnerships
●     Collaborate on writing projects, prospect research and other relevant institutional partnerships tasks with other institutional partnerships team members
●     Oversee the work of grant writing consultants as needed

Qualifications

Minimum:
●     Putting into practice our feminist values of being an organization that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive,
and acknowledging that we all come from different lived experiences and backgrounds, we recognize work experience in the field over degrees and certifications for this position.
●  A minimum of three (3) years of fundraising experience especially in areas of strategic interest to Astraea, such as organizations focusing on or part of LGBTQI or feminist issues, human rights, or gender, racial, migrant, or economic justice issues.
●     Excellent interpersonal skills to manage a wide variety of internal and external relationships.
●     High standard of computer literacy and competence. Expertise in Microsoft Office specifically Word and
Excel. Knowledge of fundraising and donor management software
●     Excellent written and oral communication skills
●     Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple and often competing deadlines
●     Ability to work efficiently, collaboratively, and flexibly as part of a diverse team in a global organization
●     Exceptional attention to detail and ability to hold sensitive or confidential information with care
●     Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
●     Passion for Astraea’s mission as a public foundation and queer feminist fund
●     Understanding and acceptance of Astraea's core values and guiding principles as a social justice funder
 
Preferred:
●      Experience and/or demonstrated interest in social justice, human rights, development and/or philanthropic fields, experience with fundraising or part of a fundraising team
●     Experience with constructing budgets, and/or tracking revenue
●     Experience at a public foundation or women’s fund
●     Comfortable talking about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sex characteristics, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms
●     Commitment to and knowledge of issues facing domestic and global LGBTQI, feminist and racial, economic, and gender justice movements

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
