Research Associate, Biochemistry

Atlas Data Storage is revolutionizing the field of information technology by innovating DNA Data Storage solutions. At Atlas we are developing a massively parallel high-throughput semiconductor based information storage technology by leveraging the unique properties of synthetic DNA. We are seeking a Research Associate (RA) who will be involved in research and development activities towards developing the company’s proprietary Enzymatic DNA synthesis on semiconductor chips. The position will support protein engineering and reagent development as well as on-chip DNA synthesis. This is a full-time bench position and the person will be expected to work closely with other scientists and engineers of the group to provide support for planning and execution of experiments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Protein engineering:

      Execution of automated high throughput workflows to engineer enzymes

       Enzyme activity assays

       Binding affinity studies

       Library screening and data analysis

       HTP, Mid to large scale protein purification and quantification

On-Chip DNA synthesis

       Perform DNA synthesis on automated instrument platform


Qualifications

      BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or related field

      2+ years of industry experience at pharma, biotech, or related companies

      Experience with protein engineering and molecular biology

      Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems

      Experience with UV-Vis and Fluorescence spectrometers, HPLC, and LC-MS analysis

      Ability to work seamlessly with other team members in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

      Ability and interest to learn new techniques and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the project

      Ability to stand for long durations, lift 40 lbs., and operate instruments requiring fine dexterity

  • Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, including reading technical documents and participating in team meetings.
  • Environmental Conditions: Frequently exposed to typical laboratory conditions, including biological samples, chemicals, and reagents. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, gloves, and safety goggles as required.
  • Posture: Requires frequent standing, sitting, and occasional bending or reaching over lab benches or into biosafety cabinets.

 

The pay range for this role is:

80,000 - 115,000 USD per year (HQ)
