Mechanical Field Service Engineer

Come be a part of an exciting clean energy technology startup in beautiful Fort Collins, CO! You will work together with an ambitious and talented group of individuals decarbonizing the industrial heat sector.

What you'll do

  • Support commissioning, maintenance, operating, troubleshooting, and patching of pilot deployments both remote and in person using engineering expertise;

  • Provide engineering support to Senior Field Operations Engineer and Product Deployment Manager to document and maintain maintenance plans and schedules, service manuals, and field service plans;

  • Work with R&D to develop custom codes for steady-state and time-dependent simulation on the component and process levels and implement simulations of advanced thermal systems using specialized software and tools;

  • Work with Product, R&D, and Manufacturing Teams to improve product offering;

  • Provide engineering support to Senior Field Operations Engineer, Product Deployment Manager, and European team for Europe-based pilot deployments;

  • Troubleshoot operation of pilots using engineering expertise and collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure pilot up time;

  • Support development, fabrication, and testing of pilot and product units, as well as modification for EU deployment;

  • Support prototype testing, physical twin performance, and reliability testing

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field;

  • Experience with the design, fabrication, and testing of thermal systems;

  • Familiarity with specialized simulation software such as Engineering Equation Solver, Aspen Plus, Matlab/Simulink, GT-SUITE, or HTRI;

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills;

  • Experience working in a lab environment;

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred candidates have one or more of the following qualifications
  • MS in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field;

  • 2+ years of experience developing thermal systems and components;

  • Experience in the HVAC and/or boiler industries;

  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar;


Travel required ~25% of the time.
