Senior Field Operations Engineer

Come be a part of an exciting clean energy technology startup in beautiful Fort Collins, CO! You will work together with an ambitious and talented group of individuals decarbonizing the industrial heat sector.

What you'll do

  • Lead team of field engineers in operating pilot units;

  • Assist R&D team with product development and testing;

  • Troubleshoot operation of pilots using engineering expertise and collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure pilot up time; 

  • Assist Project Deployment Manager to commission, operate, and service our pilot at New Belgium Brewing and subsequent pilot deployments, including Europe-based pilots; 

  • Provide engineering support to Project Deployment Manager to develop maintenance plans and schedules, service manuals, and field service plans; 

  • Work with Product, R&D, and Manufacturing Teams to improve product offerings; 

  • Support development, fabrication, and testing of pilot and product units; 

  • Support prototype testing, physical twin performance, and reliability testing

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field;

  • 2+ years of experience leading a team of field engineers;

  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering field operations, with a focus on thermal or HVAC systems;

  • Experience with the testing, debugging thermal or HVAC systems;

  • Proficiency in reading P&IDs and electrical schematics;

  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer;

  • Ability to work on customer sites;

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred candidates have one or more of the following qualifications
  • MS or PhD in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering, or related field;

  • 10+ years of experience developing thermal systems and components;

  • Experience in the HVAC and/or boiler industries;

  • Familiarity with specialized simulation software such as Engineering Equation Solver, Aspen Plus, Matlab/Simulink, or HTRI;

  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar


Travel required ~25% of the time. 

The pay range for this role is:

115,000 - 130,000 USD per year (Fort Collins, CO)
