The role: 

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Catastrophe Modeller to lead our catastrophe analytics across the firm. This individual will play a pivotal role in bringing new MGAs (Managing General Agents) to market and ensuring they are backed by robust, cutting-edge catastrophe modelling. They will work cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class technical servicing to clients and partners, while also contributing meaningfully to innovation efforts in parametric product development and alternative reinsurance structures. 

 

Additionally, they will have the opportunity to leverage programming skills and analytical expertise to help drive innovation, enhance modelling efficiency, and advance automation efforts within the Analytics function. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead traditional catastrophe modelling efforts across all Augment pillars, including Structured Solutions, MGA, ILS, and Captives. 
  • Leverage our exclusive partnership with RMS Moody’s Parametric division to deliver robust analytics support for our Parametric offering. 
  • Support the deal-making process by delivering high-quality analytical outputs for reinsurance submissions, designing client-tailored structures, and engaging in client interactions. 
  • Leverage programming skills (e.g., Python, R, SQL) to contribute to data strategy, automation, and AI-driven modelling enhancements. 
  • Collaborate across teams, particularly with Technology and Client Solutions, to support innovation and technology buildout across the business.  

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Catastrophe Modelling and industry experience

  • Expertise in both RMS & AIR a must 
  • Proficiency in programming (Python, R, SQL, or similar)  
  • Strong understanding of reinsurance concepts, financial analysis, and risk assessment with experience working across different reinsurance and risk management structures. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while delivering exceptional quality. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working remotely in a global team, and willing to travel for client and market meetings.
