Consultant, Workforce Planning 

Auxo is looking for a highly skilled and forward-thinking Consultant of Workforce Planning to lead and shape the strategic direction of our workforce planning efforts. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for evaluating and optimizing current processes and software, collaborating closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency, enhance profitability, and support sustainable business growth. You will play a key role in ensuring that our workforce strategy aligns with both long-term financial objectives and the need to deliver exceptional client satisfaction. We expect the Consultant to work approximately 15-20 hours/week. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Utilization & Resource Allocation:
    • Have an understanding of staff resources to projects based on skill sets, client needs, and available capacity, ensuring optimal utilization rates.
    • Review current practices, develop and implement resource planning strategies to meet both short-term and long-term client demands, factoring in staff availability, workload balance, and competency requirements.
    • Help identify opportunities to forecast future resource needs and ensure the right talent is available at the right time.
  • Financial Performance & Margin Management:
    • Review billable utilization rates across teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and financial goals.
    • Aid in identifying opportunities based on staffing levels and profitability targets, ensuring that margins are maintained or improved by optimizing the balance between resource costs and billable hours.
    • Lead and identify opportunities for regular reporting on utilization metrics, forecasting accuracy, and financial performance to senior leadership.
  • Budget Oversight & Forecasting:
    • Identify and propose solutions to maintain resource allocation plans to meet budget targets while delivering high-quality service to clients.
    • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to assess current performance against budget, identifying and addressing any resource-related risks to profitability.
    • Develop a process that allows the team to continuously analyze resourcing trends and make proactive adjustments to avoid under- or over-utilization.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency:
    • Develop initiatives and processes to enhance resource allocation processes and increase overall operational efficiency within the current resourcing platform, Parallax, and evaluate alternative platforms. 
    • Design and propose tools and systems that enable data-driven decision-making around resource planning, utilization, and forecasting.
    • Evaluate current utilization platform, Parallax, to ensure optimal output performance and drive efficiencies with the Parallax team. 
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Mentor team members while providing a runway for them to operate autonomously and drive results
    • Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and collaboration.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Optimize how to best anticipate fluctuations in demand and adjust staffing levels proactively to meet changing client requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in resource management, utilization management, or similar roles, preferably within a professional services, consulting, or project-based environment.
  • Proven track record of managing resource allocation and forecasting to meet financial and operational targets.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing margins, billable rates, and budget forecasting.
  • Expertise in resource management tools (e.g., Parallax, BigTime, Kantata, or similar platforms).
  • Advanced Excel or data analysis skills to manage and interpret resource allocation and financial data.
  • Strong understanding of workforce management, profitability optimization, and client-facing project management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Highly organized, with an ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-driven with a focus on improving business performance and meeting financial objectives.

The pay range for this role is:

75 - 105 USD per hour (Remote - United States)
