About Axiomatic_AI:

Axiomatic_AI is dedicated to accelerating R&D by developing the next generation of Automated Interpretable Reasoning, a verifiably truthful AI model built for reasoning in science and engineering, empowering engineers specifically in hardware design and Electronic Design Automation (EDA), with a mission to revolutionize the fields of hardware design and simulation in the photonics and semiconductor industry. We seek highly motivated professionals to help us bring these innovations to life, driving the evolution from development to commercial product.

Position overview:

We are on the outlook for a visionary leader to drive the development of our next-generation AI-powered photonic design tools. In this position you will drive both high-level objectives and the day-to-day development of the technical AI photonic design tools, applying deep technical expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence and integrated photonics.

As a senior leader in our organization, you will guide a high-performing team of domain experts in integrated photonics, while collaborating closely with AI and systems engineering teams. Your work will span both internal innovation and external engagement - shaping our product roadmap and partnering with clients to define and deploy AI-driven solutions for photonic integrated circuits (PICs), including those co-designed with RF electronics (e.g., optical transceivers).

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment and is passionate about pushing the boundaries of photonics and AI.

Your mission:

AI-Driven Photonic Integration & Co-Design:

  • Develop and refine AI-enabled EDA workflows for photonic circuit design, ensuring compatibility with industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Collaborate closely with AI and Software Engineering teams to define the capabilities of the Axiomatic Intelligence tools for PIC and co-design.

Technical Team Supervision and Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with AI and Software Engineers to develop datasets for photonic circuit layout, simulation, and fabrication.
  • Mentor and lead a team of Domain Experts in Integrated Photonics.
  • Build a community of external users for Axiomatic Intelligence tools.
  • Engage with the open-source EDA community, advocating best practices and contributing to collaborative projects.

Product Strategy:

  • Engage with customers (foundries, design houses, fabless photonics companies, etc.) to define product-market fit and iteratively improve products.
  • Work closely with fabrication partners and foundries to ensure seamless integration of AI-driven photonic design solutions.
  • Define and refine strategic roadmaps for AI-driven photonic integration products and services.
  • Evaluate market opportunities, form strategic partnerships, and secure development contracts.
  • Oversee product timelines for Axiomatic AI for PIC.

Key requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of industrial experience in photonic integrated circuits.

Technical skills:

  • Expertise in photonic EDA tools and methodologies, including PIC design platforms (e.g., Lumerical, Ansys)
  • Experience with simulation tools for photonic integrated circuits (e.g., Synopsys, GDSFactory, IPKISS, etc.).
  • Python coding proficiency for design automation and data analysis.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Clear and effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive mindset with a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • Full professional fluency in English.

Nice to have:

  • 3+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience with open-source EDA tools and simulation software (e.g., FDTD)
  • Experience with tapouts.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor foundries.
  • Knowledge of RISC-V, PULP platform, or other open-source architectures.

What we offer:

  • Competitive compensation
  • Stock Options Plan: Empowering you to share in our success and growth.
  • Cutting-Edge Tools: Access to state-of-the-art tools and collaborative opportunities with leading experts in artificial intelligence, physics, hardware and electronic design automation.
  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible work arrangements in one of our offices with potential options for remote work.
