Director, Corporate Accounting

The Director, Corporate Accounting is responsible for the accuracy, integrity and compliance of corporate financial information. The Director oversees all financial close activities, the production of financial statements, regulatory compliance, the management of internal controls as well as the optimization of accounting processes.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Authorize accounting entries (payable, receivable, accrued, cash, investments, prepaid expenses, deferred income, equity, etc.).
  • Supervise the work of the Accountants responsible for these entities.
  • Revise month-end, quarter-end and year-end entries.
  • Process complex accounting transactions related to the entities under his/her responsibility (transfer pricing allocation, complex share capital transactions, etc.).
  • Review bank reconciliations and track bank account balances. Ensure that you have enough cash to cover current expenses.
  • Review government remittance forms and payments.
  • Develop and review working papers for the preparation of tax returns and various tax forms.
  • Oversees the audit of the financial statements of the entities under his/her responsibility. Prepare the five-year budget annually.
  • Meticulously review and manage the entities entrusted to it and ensure that they comply with contractual agreements and regulatory requirements in Canada, the United States and Great Britain.
  • Work closely with the Fund and Investment Accounting and Tax teams.
  • Respond to management requests for financial information about them.
  • Prepare quarterly financial documents presented to the Board of Directors.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or administration as well as the CPA designation in good standing.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in bookkeeping/full accounting cycle.
  • Experience in an investment management environment is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Recognized for your professionalism, organizational skills, analytical skills, autonomy and meticulousness.
  • Enjoy working in a team and are comfortable in a growing entity.
  • Skilled at working on several files at the same time, respecting deadlines.
  • Familiar with Sage 300c (Accpac) or any other accounting software.
  • Have good computer skills and master the MS Office suite.
  • Bilingualism (oral and written) (French and English) in order to be able to deal on a daily basis with our colleagues in offices outside Quebec as well as with our external partners across Canada, the United States and internationally.
